One of Namibia’s prime film locations, these dunes are amongst the highest sand dunes in the World -as high as 1,000 to 1,167 feet in places. Offering spectacular backdrops to blockbuster films like Flight of the Phoenix, 10 000 BC, Mad Max: Fury Road, Drona, Dhoom 2 and photography by international magazines like Vogue. 

LOGISTICS 

Nestled in the Erongo Region, in the Dorob National Park. The nearest International Airport to this location is the Walvis Bay Airport. The nearest town is Walvis Bay is a 10 minute drive from airport or Swakopmund which is 40 minute drive from airport. The nearest Private Hospital from set is the Walvis Bay Welwitschia Hospital which is 10 to 30 minute drive depending on the exact filming location; or the Swakopmund Mediclinic which can be reached within 10 or 30 minutes also depending on the exact filming location. Nearest suppliers from set are either in Walvis Bay or Swakopmund.

TRAVEL TERRAIN & TRANSPORT: 

Basecamp can be accessible by gravel road, so normal 2x4 vehicles are suitable. To set (inside the dune fields) 4x4 dune sand terrain, which means only 4 wheel drive vehicles. National Park Authority needed, the Ministry of Environment & Tourism Location Permission Application needed and the process can take up to 2 weeks + 

RESTRICTIONS 

No animals allowed into the park and No drone filming, and in some cases no Special Effects and may only drive in designated off-road areas.
